The Itneg or Tinguians from the mountainous province of Abra are known for their weaving skills and for producing handwoven textile with hand embroidery to preserve their culture. The rich weaving tradition of the Tinguians goes back to the Spanish colonial times. Every step of the production is overseen by women – from the planting of the cotton to the intricate designs of the final product. The embroidery style is called kinamay.
Each piece is made by hand and one-of-a-kind.
