Binakol is a traditional Philippine weaving pattern from Northern Luzon, known for its hypnotic, optical illusion designs created by interlocked geometric shapes. Using a twill weave technique, weavers create patterns like whirlwinds (kusikos), stars, and other motifs that appear to have depth and motion despite being a flat, two-dimensional surface. These disorienting designs were traditionally believed to confuse evil spirits
