Balai is derived from the Malay word “balay” which means house. Inspired by what the pandemic of 2020 has brought to us - doing our best from being at home: through working, schooling, or discovering new things with the family.

 

Incorporated with handwoven Buri, our BALAI slides are truly the modern tsinelas from Sewn’s Pambahay Series.

 

  • Sustainable criss cross upper made from natural and handwoven dried Buri, the largest palm tree in the Philippines.

  • Semi-foamed and breathable lining for that comfy fit.

  • Sturdy fit with a footbed covered in man-made leather.

  • Gum outer sole in black.

  • Fitting: True to size. Available in women’s sizes only. Women’s size 9 to 10 may fit Men’s 7 to 8

  • Available in 2 colorways: Black footbed with Ivory piping and Tan footbed with Tan piping
