How did your brand start and what inspired you to begin its journey?
Reverie by Nancy started in 2014. It was a way for me to channel my creative energy outside of the corporate world. My very first project in 2014 was to make stationary sets for the people I wanted to thank. And their reactions when I gave them their sets were really all priceless. So after that, I said, I want to do this. I want to keep making other people feel valued and special.
What do you find most fulfilling about being an owner of a local business?
I think the most fulfilling part for me would be having the opportunity to share who we are as Filipinos. We're very hospitable. We're very warm. I think, generally, Filipinos are very giving individuals and when we give, it's always from the heart. So to be able to be a medium for other people to express these Filipino traits through our stationaries and for them to use the stationaries to be this kind of Filipino, it is very fulfilling for me.
What is something you can share about your Brand that will inspire others to choose and support local?
All our stationaries are handcrafted very meticulously from conceptualizing templates, designs, to packaging. Each step is very well thought off. Each stationery and each card we make has intention and purpose to it. That’s why I think when you purchase local products, you're not only uplifting a person or the people behind it. You're also actually promoting our culture and our work ethic as Filipinos.
Can you show us one of your signature pieces/products and if you could walk us through the process of creating this?
Reverie by Nancy started going public in 2023, and the first product we launched was our occasion cards. So it has six occasions with four cards per occasion. We just started off with an English variation of it, but now we've made a special Pinoy version of it to actually highlight our language and our love for thoughtful giving. So the card says, “Mabuhay ang Bagong Kasal,” “Maligayang Bati,” “Tagumpay,” “Pagaling ka,” “Kaya mo ‘yan,” and “Taos-pusong Pasasalamat.”
The cards are all handcrafted meticulously by me. I'm really the one who makes the stationaries for Reverie by Nancy. For some design, the text is foiled and some are printed.
Some cards are actually kind of complicated to make because I have to use two printers and different types of machine to be able to come up with them. But I enjoy each process, so it's okay. Sometimes, I don't like giving gifts when the cards that you stick on the gifts are not properly placed. So this is the reason why I placed a semi circle there so that you can close it. That's just a pet peeve that I incorporated in these cards.
